Never judge a book by its cover and never judge a person by their meat shell.
I would like to congratulate THIS GUY for teaching all of us a lesson here. It’s a sad lesson that I had hoped never to deal with because I thought it was dead in the World, but I guess not. I thought it was a universal truth not to judge a book by its cover, maybe that was my mistake. Maybe that guy was just taking the quote literally and he doesn't judge books by their covers, but he still judges people. Maybe he’s never read a book, or maybe he’s just never heard the quote. To be honest it’s the last one that scares me. It scares me because for so long in this world we have used phrases like that to teach moral lessons and for someone not to have heard one of them is concerning to say the least. I suppose we can’t really blame him because if he hasn't heard that quote then it can only be attributed to the other people who didn't tell him this. Anyway whatever the case may be I’d like to take a moment and educate everyone a little bit.
Never judge a book by its cover simply means this, don’t judge the whole book based on the way the cover looks. This can be translated to humans as well. If you judge someone by their “meat shell” (cover) then you miss the true purpose of him / her being alive. You miss the beautiful story that unfolds throughout their life because you can’t look past that glass window of skin. In many cases we have no control over what our “meat shell” looks like because of genetics or even freak accidents so those “covers” are misleading.
A much better way to tell the quality of the book is to open the cover and read it. In people we call this actual book part “Character” and it is really easy to read if you actually take time to read the book and you can get past the “meat shell”. There are people that may have a really unappealing “cover” but yet they are an amazing “book”. There are also people that have a really amazing “meat shell” but horrid “character”. I think both people may have been represented in the linked article but I run the risk of being too judgmental myself if I tell you which one is which.
Long story short is this character means everything and meat shells mean nothing. Book plots and substance mean everything and book covers mean nothing. Imagine all the good we could do in the world if we could just grasp that one simple lesson.
